Mogensen Sizer technology for processing sand for renders and mortar renders

The variety of premixes available on the market for the preparation of concrete, mortar, render, adhesives, coating compounds and related products has steadily increased in recent years and has now reached almost immense proportions. As a result, the process engineering for preparation of the necessary sand mixes must meet extreme requirements in certain applications. The classical Mogensen Sizer technology, which enables multiple separations of different basic materials in a minimum of space is successfully used for modern sand processing in the futuristic mixing tower at Saint-Gobain Weber-Beamix in Eindhoven.

Coarse Separation of Moist and Impure Raw Materials

The coarse separation of moist and impure raw materials, even at coarse cut-points, regularly causes problems such as screen clogging or blinding caused by extreme material bed formation. At a quarry in Puerto Rico, a Mogensen Vibratory Bar Sizer is used to screen off the unusable waste material. Thanks to its special design, based on vibrating bars fixed at one end, this sizer operates without clogging and without any reduction in capacity even in changing weather conditions.

Glass Recycling with Mogensen Sorting and Screening Systems

Glass is used widely as a high-quality, inert packaging material. A large percentage of the raw materials used in glass production consists of recycled glass. The recycling quota for refuse glass exceeds 90 %. To achieve such a high quota, a sophisticated sorting system combined with efficient equipment for pre-sizing is essential. This paper describes the development and adaption of Mogensen sorting and screening systems to meet the ever growing requirements of established and new applications, particularly in the recycling of refuse glass.

Fine Screening of Sanding Dust

Machining stages such as sawing, cutting, or sanding in the production of derived timber materials result in considerable quantities of fine wood dust. Besides fine particles, this dust contains fibrous components and chips. For effective thermal utilization, the dust must be sized on a screen prior to burning. At the Eiweiler facility of Glunz AG, a screening system centring around a Mogensen Sizer 2000 has been in operation for some time now. The direct excitation of the screen by means of rapping bars ensures blindingfree screening despite the difficult-to-screen feed material.

Classifying Extremely Difficult-to-Screen Lava Stone

The high inherent moisture of volcanic cinder particularly in the fines range has so far hindered optimum classification of this material. At the Andernacher Lavakontor Works at Nickenich, which belongs to the German company Rheinischen Provinzial-Basalt- und Lavawerke GmbH (RPBL), a new fines screening plant incorporating the innovative Mogensen Sizer 2000 has now been operating for some time in the preparation facility. In combination with screen deck heating, alternately rapping bars prevent pegging and blinding of the screening surface even when processing feed materials with particularly high moisture contents, to ensure successful classification.

Optoelectronic Separation in Feldspar Processing at Maffei Sarda

For feldspar processing at its Orani plant in Sardinia, Maffei Sarda uses two MSort optoelectronic separating devices. Feldspar impurities of unacceptable colour are removed in order to obtain the whiteness demanded by the ceramics industry. The 4th Generation Mogensen Sizers

The reliability and availability for operation of a screening machine depend crucially on the use of proven components. Consequently, the standardization of individual assembly groups has been established corporate philosophy at Mogensen since its founding in 1968 to the present day. Special, tailored solutions in dynamic mechanical engineering systems, however, are always the product of a go-it-alone design approach and as such are associated with a high risk of machine breakdown. The new, redesigned version of the Mogensen SC Long Deck Sizer is now replacing the SL Sizer marketed over the last ten years. The operation of this screening machine and the Sizer operating principle have not been changed. At the same time, a new type of sizer, the SG, has been developed, which with its circular-motion vibration is particularly suitable for sizing difficult-to-screen products.
